Colonel Dube, Commanding Officer of 2d Bn, 9th Marines from 10 June 1977 to 14 Mar 1978, died April 29, 2014 in Twentynine Palms, California where he served two terms as mayor following his 38 years of service with the Marines. He was 80 years old. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Col. Dube enlisted in the Marines in 1951, and served in Korea as a platoon sergeant with C 1/5. In Vietnam he served with served with the River Assault Force, was an advisor to the 3d Bn, Vietnamese Marines and served with the Combined Action Program, III Marine Amphibious Force. His personal decorations include the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, four Bronze Star medals with combat "V", Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, and several RVN awards.
