(" What was that password?")

Willie, remember the old WWII movies where the Grunts on the perimeter would call out to some other Grunts that were outside the lines. Sometimes instead of a password, they would often ask them ' Who won the World Series in 32',or some other year. If one of the guys outside the lines answered, " The Dodgers," or the correct team, the Grunts on the perimeter would give them a free pass through the wire. They would have shot me, because I couldn't tell you today if you ask me. I think a lot of that was just Hollywood.

I remember those old movies alright .one of my favorites was 30 seconds over Tokyo.. I was thinking about being in a bunker with twin forties and 50 calibers going off during the night. Thinking I wouldn't be able to sleep. I had no problem sleeping except for the rats. I woke up one night with one sleeping on my chest.
Rats, another Benny....

Willie,
I think you made a typo…if you went to Vietnam in 1967 it was 47 years ago…
Hope all is well...Semper Fi.

Willie, the 9th is just around the corner and 47 years ago. Get aboard the Upshur, and 'Smoke-'em if you got 'em! Our next stop, Viet-Fric-ing-Nam. Ambushes, Jungle Rot, Booby-Traps, and bad water. Ah! the life of a Marine!
Would I do it again? HELL NO!

Start packing John, but the Black Ladle is mine. You, and Willie can split the bottle of 'Tiger Piss,' and you both can take turns carrying the PRIC-25. I would rather walk point.
Ah! Willie, those fabulous little Filipino bands jumping up and down and playing their rendition of " Black is Black" over, over over and over, in one chord, and bad voices. But after about seven San Miguels, they sounded great, and the ugly girls looked gorgeous.

Where's my Pass-Port?

OK,
It's decided, we're going. I thought about who gets to walk point for at least two seconds, and decided you and John can fight over it. You guys get all the good duty. I'll carry the radio, maybe not, I've got a bad back..
Hey Joe, that was a hit record you know, I give you the good stuff, warm black Label and I get the tiger piss. I'm telling the gunny...... He's going to make you burn shidders for this..
We're talking about going on a tour aren't we. You know ,2014 type, old geezers returning to the Nam...sleeping in 5 star hotels. They have um you know.. From what I hear, it ain't what it used to be..
If it's that other kind of tour........

What's this 'Five Star' stuff Willie? What happened to "Once a marine, always a Marine" If we go, I want to sleep in the bush, especially, during the monsoon season. Drink water from a bomb crater, and I want to eat only C-Rats, WWII vintage, and burn a Shidder. Walk through a rice paddy, and get a few leeches on me, and maybe, if wer're lucky, we can find an old NVA and pi$$ him off, so he can take a shot, or two at us. That would make us feel right at home.
