ANY OF YOU GUYS REMEMBER THE DATES THAT WE WERE AT CUA VIET? WE LOST A LOT OF PEOPLE AS HEAT CASUELTIES AND WOUNDS. THINK WE WERE THERE TWICE. I CANT SEEM TO REMEMBER.I'M TRYING TO FILE A CLAIM FOR A PURPLE HEART THAT I WAS'NT WRITTEN UP FOR. THE DOCS WERE TO BUSY,IF YOU WERE WALKING WOUNDED SOME OF US WERE NEVER WRITTEN UP.
COULD REALLY USE SOME HELP HERE. THANK YOU.

Don't know the rules for a PH claim but buddy letters, Marines that witnessed you getting hit, helped me in the past to support my claim for TBI.
Also if you have any medical records of you being treated after the incident, maybe when you got back to the rear area, that would help. Youll probably have to write a statement about your wound detailing what happened to support your claim.
If you can get a copy of the after action report for that operation that might help.
Hopefully some more guys will post their suggestions. I wasn't on this operation but I've had some experience with claims.

THANKS FOR THE INFO,IT HELPS.TRING TO FIND AFTER-ACTION REPORTS, SO FAR NOT MUCH LUCK,SAME WITH CASULTY REPORTS.ALSO CAN'T REMEMBER NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WRITE A BUDDY LETTER. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO,ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE APPRICIATED.

When reading the stories and requests for verification to support a claim or other award I can't help but think that attending our reunions would be a great help. (I hope I'm not out of line here)
Everyone I've met at our reunion has been helpful and engaging.

I remember being there sometime in June or early July 1967 when we called it the sand dunes.I may be wrong on the dates.
