For those who were with 1st Platoon on 16 March 1967, up on Hill 861, we lost a brother on January 9th. Russ "Doc Jake" Jacobson passed away from lymphoma caused by Agent Orange exposure. I'm fairly certain Russ saved at least one life that day, Lou Damiano, and probably others. His son Matt contacted me and said the Navy was insisting they provide Navy people for his service Honor Guard while the family wanted Marines (Doc always felt he was more Marine than he ever was a Navy guy). I had Matt make a couple of phone calls and the Marines are taking care of it.
