Bridge Dedication

Last month I had the honor of attending the dedication of a Tennessee county bridge to the memory of a fallen brother. The bridge was dedicated to Cpl. Larry G. Buford ( Bo ) who was KIA on November 30, 1967. It was attended by Cpl. Buford's sister and brother-in -law, Linda and John Flippen, one nephew, several friends as well as three state representatives who were fundamental in getting the memorial process passed through the state legislature.

The dedication was initiated by a family friend, Dwight Smith, who spearheaded the process and who led the dedication. I was going to include a photo but am uncertain how to do this.

Phil,
The bridge is located on state highway 11 just north of a small town called College Grove, TN. Let me know when you plan on coming because maybe we can meet for lunch or a beer.

This is great news to hear that Cpl. Buford has reached such high acclaim for his ultimate sacrifice and honorable service. I remember when he arrived to 2/9 and the day he and others lost their lives up on the DMZ.

Well, it's been 50 years ago today that Bo and his fellow Marines and Corpsman paid the ultimate sacrifice. It is hard to believe that it has been that long. Time sure flies.

I will go to his gravesite today to pay my respects. May he and all the other fallen brothers rest in peace.
