1175 41 years later

I will once again raise a glass to the men who were on 1175. In case you weren't aware we made marine corps history on that mountain and all should be proud. It is hard to believe that 41 years have gone by. It seems like yesterday to me and to all the men I have had contact with in recent times; a time that is frozen in our memories. Maybe because we went without food for so long or maybe because of the freezing monsoon rains in 56 degree temperature. I believe mainly because we lost so many good friends on Feb. 5th and were able to keep with marine tradition by bringing them back down. I have a granddaughter, one of 4 grandchildren, who was born on Feb. 5th. Every time I celebrate her birthday I can't help but celebrate my life, and realize that I am privileged to still have one. I also remember with sadness those that were ended on the same day 41 years ago and how privileged I was to have served with them. Sempre Fi.....Pete Grosso
