Mike Quinn from Canada joined Hotel July '68 as an 0141 but told them I didn't join to type letters and whined so much they sent me to the bush. Stayed there until I transferred to 1st Cag in Feb 69. I was in Lt Guins platoon.

Welcome home and thanks Canada! I had 1st Plt from Feb 68 to May 68, then was XO till June when I got CACO 3-4 in Huong Tra just north of the Citadel. One of my Marines was from Canada also. I have often wondered just how many Canadians served in the Marines during the Vietnam era.

don,t know how many Canadians were in the Corps but approximately 40,000 of us crossed the border to enlist during Vietnem. Most of us were given fabricated U.S. addresses on our DD 214s. (Mine was a fictictious street in Buffalo). That way any KIA was listed according to home of record-not citizenship. So far we have identified 115 names on the Wall as being from Canada in spite of being listed from a border state e.g. Washington, Michigan. New York, Maine etc. Semper Fi M quinn
